Just For Me

Have you felt it?
The excitement
The electricity
To feel so passionate that you could burst
That thing that drives you
And gets you out of bed every morning
I felt it once
It set me ablaze
But then it left as quickly as it came
Now all I feel is longing
I’ve spent my time trying to find it again
But I keep coming up empty
Hollow
I can’t quite pinpoint when it left
But I do wonder if it’ll come back
Was I only meant to taste rather than savor?
To be a person who must learn to live without it
Perhaps I’ve been looking in all the wrong places
And it is just beyond my reach
Or perhaps I’ll be searching for an eternity
